Outsourcing to India - Brickwork - Part 1 of Experiment 2

Posted by admin on November 11th, 2007 filed in Advice

Well, after reading Thomas Friedman’s book ‘The Earth is Flat’ and how he went on and on about outsourcing - with particular emphasis on the company Brickwork. I just had to give it a try.

I had a project which involved doing art direction on a book. The book was written, and one chapter had already been laid out to provide a guidance for style. We were providing photos and the text and just wanted it laid out.

Hello:

I’m currently writing a book as well as doing the art direction. Is laying out a book one of the services you provide?

David

Within 4 hours I had a reply, from chairman and CEO Vivek Kulkarini saying “Thanks so much David for contacting us. Danny & John from our team will be in touch with you.” I saw in the message that he had CC’d Danny and John.

Fast service, I was impressed.

However, after a few days I sent an email since no one was in touch. I also phoned and left a message.

My email on Feb 10th to them was simple.

No one ended up getting in touch with me.

I had also phoned and left a message - no one returned my call either.

I think I will pass.

The saga continues in Part 2…
