FreePBX Benefits Pt. 9 - Fax - Saves me $72 a year!

Again, I love my PBX at home. Takes care of all my home needs.

Wow, this is a big one! A fax, although used less and less, still comes in handy. I’ve done away with the second line for a fax. That was a big expense. I then switched to Telus Fax-to-email service. Here Telus gave me a phone number ($6 a month) that received faxes at 10¢ a page, then emailed them to me.

Again, FreePBX comes to the rescue. When someone calls the IVR, the computer listens for the fax tones. If it is a fax, it receives it, and emails me a PDF of the fax. That way it doesn’t sit in the fax tray unnoticed. I can deal with it immediately (do it, delegate, dispose).
